Biography
Angela Stapleford grew up in the Isle of Man and moved to England in the 1990s. She worked in the publishing industry which led her to develop a passionate interest in photography. She studied Photographic Arts at the University of Westminster in London. She works on documentary projects that relate to landscape, architecture and social issues. Her influences include Joel Sternfeld, Simon Norfolk and Lise Sarfati.
Angela also photographs musicians, dancers, theatre performances and events for campaign groups and arts and politics publications. She is currently working with Photochats, a community access photography project to help develop photographic events and exhibitions in East London.
Angelas photography has been exhibited at Chats Palace Community Arts Centre in East London, The Menier Gallery in London Bridge, Gallery West at the University of Westminster and The Truman Brewery, Brick Lane, London. She has taken part in a photography project that has been exhibited at Xinyi International Club in Guangzhou, The Guangdong Museum of Art and the Times Museum in China.
Angela is a member of the National Union of Journalists and the London Photographic Association.
